Yarm Town Council
About
Yarm Town Council is the first tier of local government for Yarm, based at the Town Hall and Heritage Centre on the High Street. Its councillors represent residents, act as a consultee on local planning matters, and speak up for the town on the issues that shape day-to-day life here — from amenities and open spaces to protecting Yarm's historic character.
The council looks after a range of local services and assets, including the cemetery and chapel, the allotments, and the Town Hall and Heritage Centre itself. It awards small grants to local charities, clubs and community groups, and supports the events that make up Yarm's calendar — among them Yarm Fair, the Remembrance Sunday service and the Christmas lights switch-on. A monthly community award recognises residents who go the extra mile.
Council meetings are open to the public, with agendas, minutes and financial reports published on the council's website.
