Yarm in 2006
These pictures were taken months before a BBC Breakfast poll named Yarm's the best High Street in Britain, and three years before Google Street View reached the UK. The iPhone hadn't been launched yet.
Some of the names in the tour are still trading. Others have changed hands, moved or closed, and a few shopfronts you won't recognise at all. Have a wander and see how many you remember.
How to use the tour
- Look around. Click and drag, or swipe on a phone, to turn on the spot.
- Walk the street. Click the arrows on the ground to move to the next spot.
- Jump to an area. Use the menu along the top to go straight to the river, the shops, or the bars and restaurants.
- Go full screen. The icon in the top corner gives you the full effect.
Yarm, twenty years on.
We want to photograph the High Street again, from the same spots, so you can step between Yarm then and Yarm now. Got photos or memories of Yarm in 2006? We'd love to see them.
